Opry's Newest Son

During his annual "All For the Hall" benefit, Keith Urban was invited to be the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry. The invitation came from Opry members Vince Gill, Rascal Flatts, and the Oak Ridge Boys as the asked Keith to open a black duffle bag. Inside the bag as the WSM microphone stand from the stage at the Opry.

Very cool moment! Keith, born in New Zealand and raised in Australia, becomes the Opry's first non-American born member.

Congrats Keith!

Steel Magnolia - splits?

Word on the streets is that Steel Magnolia is "no longer performing as a duo." A post at TheBoot.com has also said that Steel Magnolia and Big Machine Records have parted ways.

The duo, consisting of Meghan Linsey and Joshua Scott Jones, made a splash in country music after winning the reality show "Can You Duet" and had pretty quick success with their debut single "Keep On Lovin' You."

Sugarland Splits....

Sugarland, in the past, has referenced that they would be alright with solo projects. A source is now claiming that Jennifer Nettles and Christian Bush will spend most the year of 2012 apart professionally.

Rumors have a new solo project that Christian is working on at Mercury Records. Sugarland had and extremely tough year especially after the stage collapse in Indiana.

Even though the duo has yet to officially confirm alternate 2012 plans they won’t be totally apart for 2012 as they currently have 6 2012 dates on the agenda according to their website http://www.sugarlandmusic.com/events.
